My heart aches for them!

But why are they advised to do a RNY when it has a much greater regain rate than the DS?

I have been watching these episodes too.  I cry every time.  I feel so sad for them and the old me.  I wasn't 600 lbs but at times I felt like I was.  We all share that same feelings of shame and frustration.  Then they get the RNY and are told they are eating too much.  UGH!

Every time I have seen it I have sad that they have been led down the wrong Journey... I know that the DS is not for everyone BUT it could change these lives dramatically!

It seems to be the same surgeon in every episode. Maybe he doesn't perform the DS.

But the woman in the last episode (Olivia, I think) got the VSG, not the RNY.

Exactly that's what I think to, He just doesn't do the DS. I think his bedside manor has something to be desired at times.... I love that show. I went to buy insurance this month because mine ends at the end of the month and none of the insurance that is a available in WA. state has bariatric coverage.... You watch this show and you can see why it needs to be covered in ALL insurance packages... For it not to be is a CRIME in and of itself..... Im back to square one..... Well almost, I do have my DS surgery already completed, "self pay", I just mean as far as getting labwork done.....

What gets me is in the beginning it says...

"They have a less than 5% chance at success."

So why not give these poor people a fighting chance.  I'm sure Dr. Nowzarden doesn't do the DS, but why make these poor people suffer.  It breaks my heart.  Everytime I see that show.  I am soooooooooo grateful.
